One is an adventuresome woman gambler,
who went to the stars for fame and fortune.
The other is a shy young lady with strange powers,
who journeyed to space to get away from it all.
Then fate brought them together,
and it will take both their sets of talents
to survive the path that lies before them.
In a way, Amber Biliouris and Bobby Griffith are to thank for this story
Amber and Bob talked me into joining their Star Wars role-playing game, and it didn't take me long to take a liking to it. Eventually, it was my turn time to time to run the games, and I thought of how to make some creative NPCs. The two that stuck out were Karmlyn Sen-Tiago and Islyne "Jinx" Jixsi. Both were from a race I made up for my campaign, the Mymar (to show what they looked like, I used a picture from a Star Trek book of a Caitian from the waist up).
Eventually, the game group decided to "move on" from Star Wars. But I still thought about these two characters. How else could I bring them to life.
Finally, I decided to write stories about them. I was originally going to make two seperate stories for the two characters, but decided to make one single story. Their opposite personalities, and how they would clash, was just too much to pass up. Vibrant vs. shy, worldly vs. spiritual, and others. Also, the Star Wars references have been removed and replaced, poker instead of sabbacc for example, but the influence is still there. But it's no "spinoff." I've tried to make the story enternaining, with the occasional humorous scene (not unlike James Bond or Indiana Jones ). On a final note, the initial chapter is a little slow, but the story soon speeds up.
The Mymar Some information about the alien race Karmlyn and Jinx belong to. While it isn't necessary to read in order to understand the story, it does provide a few insights.
